Thompson is one of three middle schools in the St. Charles School District and serves students in grades 6-8. These students participate in challenging academic programs which are housed in a structure designed to best meet the affective needs of middle-schoolers.
Our primary organizational framework includes interdisciplinary teaming in heterogeneous groups. There are three core teams at each grade level. The core subjects within each of these teams include literacy, math, science, and social studies.
Additionally, our students receive instruction in physical education and exploratory classes. The 6th and 7th grade grade students rotate through these exploratory classes using a wheel structure, while the 8th grade students choose elective classes. Also, all students attend either P.E. or health daily. Within the core teams, students may be homogeneously grouped for learning support.
